So Long Summer!

You might not want to admit it, but summer is over!  Just drive by any school in the morning and the traffic will tell you that.  While you might not want to think about it, it is time to prepare your wash for winter.  Too many times, we see sites wait until the first snow fall or the first hard freeze to request service or order parts.

Here are some areas to start checking:

HEATERS

Wash bay and all HVAC heaters are a good thing to start testing now.  I have heard lead times for control boards of over 20 weeks! Call your service company today and schedule a test and maintenance on the system to make sure you are running smoothly for the winter.

FLOOR HEAT/ICE-MELT

When your HVAC technician comes out for the heater, have them check the boiler on your system as well.  Now is the time to check these critical items:

  1. Boiler
  2. Zone Pumps
  3. Zone Manifolds
  4. Zone Sensors
  5. Glycol: test the freeze point and check for any leaks

GARAGE DOORS

Call the service company today and make sure your timers are working, the door functions from your controller, and that all your rollers are working.  There is nothing worse than a 2AM alarm for a freezing bay!

WEEP SYSTEM

Schedule FCS to come by and test your weep systems.  You’ll need to make sure the temperature probes are working properly, and the solenoids are open to keep your lines and equipment from freezing.

WASH MATERIAL/BEARINGS/HOSES

We all know that winter is when we make hay!  That means when we make the most money.  Lead times can be 8-12 weeks on some items, which means even if you place an order October 1st, it might not show up until December 1st or later!  FCS works on every major equipment line, as well as a few not-so-major ones, and we can get, or have parts for everything.  Now is the time to make sure you are in the best possible position to run at 100% this winter!

CHEMISTRY

Did you know that chemistry can change from summer to winter?  Long gone are the bugs and here to take their place is sand/salt, magnesium chloride, and all the ice!  If you are having trouble receiving orders, getting service, or are generally unhappy with your current provider, now is the time make a move.

Contact FCS to ensure your wash is set up for success and ready to put out a clean, shiny and dry car all winter long!
